This of course did not materialise and the forts - often referred to as 'Palmerston's follies' - fell into disuse later into the nineteenth century. Never the less but for Palmerstone and his fear of the French there would be no school at Knowle.
We are very proud of our School, situated as it is in one of the most delightful positions in Plymouth. It is a brand new building opened in September 2015 and has spacious 'Learning Streets', light and airy classrooms, a separate music studio and a fine hall. Our playing fields are immediately adjacent to the School and we are situated well away from the traffic - hazards of busy main roads.
We have four compact play spaces immediately adjacent to the school, which are used by Foundation, Years 1 & 2, Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6. The original school buildings have now been demolished and the space created will form the bulk of our outdoor grounds. Our main playground, environmental area and multi-use games area (MUGA) are due to open in January 2016.
We host 'Stepping Stones', a private pre-school, within our building. They were inspected in September 2015 and were judged as 'Outstanding' by OfSTED.
