Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones Pre-school is a non profit making pre-school based within Knowle Primary School. Ofsted judged us 'Outstanding' for the second time September 2015.

Our aim is to provide a happy, caring, safe and stimulating environment where children can learn through play. Developing their skills inclusive of the seven areas of learning, which are: personal, social and emotional, physical, communication and language, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.

We encourage you to work closely and alongside us in partnership. This will enable us to achieve the best for your child. It is important we all build upon your child’s skills and encourage them at home with a positive attitude and self-discipline.

We are fully committed to our Equal Opportunities Policy. We openly welcome children from any area. There is a waiting list available to everybody and when a vacancy arises at the time your child/children reaches the age of two or over, we will contact you. This will have a start date, registration, contract, medical, consent forms and shared planning which should be returned to us immediately.

You are always welcome to visit us at any time and stay with your child/children for as long as you feel is necessary.

I hope this experience will be happy and successful for everyone. Looking forward to getting to know you, your children and family.

  • We are registered with Ofsted to provide care for children aged two to five years in Knowle Primarys Foundation Area.  Five sessions a week from 8.45am to 11.45am and 5 afternoon sessions 12.15pm -15.15pm.
  • We are an inclusive Pre-school with admissions made regardless of racial origin, cultural grouping, gender, family background or disability.
  • Through working with Parents/Carers we will make every effort to include family routines and values within the care we provide.

Today the whole school was involved with planting over 400 trees. Rowan, Silver Birch, Hawthorn, Hazel and Dogwood. The Woodland Trust donated them and Bex and Dave from The Natural Connections Project helped and advised us where and how to plant them. Stepping Stones and Year 5 worked well together, the older children encouraged and supported our children. It was a great opportunity to work together. We are excited to see the Forest School Area become a wonderful wooded space.

We have been investigating life cycles
