FOUNDATION

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

From Monday 20th April, new films will be released at the times shown below from Monday to Friday. The new Speed Sounds lessons YouTube schedule is now available on their website

Each film is around ten to fifteen minutes long and will be available for 24 hours.

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds really well, move onto watching set 3.

Ask your child to read the words below using Fred-talk before blending the words;

'aw' yawn at dawn

claw

straw

law

draw

saw

Now ask them to try spelling the words; Say the word slowly and allow them to decode the word independently to spell it. Keep a record of their score to share with us.

English:

Look at these images from the story and fill in the speech bubbles.

Maths;

Today you are going to have a go at creating your own pattern. Remind the children that a pattern must repeat, this means being in the same in order to make it a pattern.

How many different patterns can they spot around the house? Can you take some photos of them?

Have a look at the link below and see which of these you could do at home. Remember to take a photo of any patterns you make and send them in to me so I can see what you have been up to.

Todays challenge; 'ow' brown cow

Can you write a sentence using the 'ow' digraph?

English:

We have reached the end of our Extreme Earth theme and today we are going to be looking at floods. Here are some videos about flooding.

This time imagine you are fish during a flood. You are now able to visit places that are usually land. Write a story about the new places you have been able to visit as a fish during a flood.

Maths

Today we are going to recap some learning from this week. Here are some challenges for you to complete.

Under the blue and orange question I would like you to write a simple sentence to explain your answer. You could tell your grown up and they could write it down for you.

You could then play these games:
