English: Watch this YouTube clip to listen to the story ‘Bumpus Jumpus Dinosaurumpus’.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eUNYIFwEGY

Listen to the story again, can you copy the actions for each dinosaur?  Can you twizzle in a spin and swish your tail?

Maths:

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/early-years/lets-compare

Cut three pieces of paper into strips of different lengths. Which is the longest? Which is the shortest? Get your child to order each piece from shortest to longest. Explain how we measure how long something is.

The children can then find different objects around the house to compare from shortest to longest. How many can they order? What is the longest object they can find? Don’t forget to email me your work so I can see all your measuring.

Have a go at todays challenge; Follow this link to find out more; https://nrich.maths.org/9717

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sounds as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15am

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack, and they know the set 2 sounds really well, move onto watching set 3 sound lessons.

Ask your child to read the words below using Fred-talk before blending the words.

three

been

green

seen

sleep

Now ask them to try spelling the words; Say the word slowly and allow them to decode the word independently to spell it. Keep a record of their score to share with us.

This week we are focusing on multiplication.
As a starter activity, practise counting in 2s with someone in your house and play this game https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/504/Super-Maths-Bowling-Multiplication Click on year 1 and double of numbers to 10.

Mild

Practical - Using any resources at home make groups of 2. You could use socks, toys, sweets – anything you can find!

For example, for 4 x 2 = you would make 4 groups of 2 like the picture below:

2 x 2 =

5 x 2 =

7 x 2 =

Spicy

To represent a multiplication sum we can use an array.

8 x 2 =

5 x 2 =

9 x 2 =

Hot
