Watch this YouTube clip to hear the story ‘Bumpus, Jumpus, Dinosaurumpus’ and join in with the actions once more;                                                                                       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eUNYIFwEGY

Watch this lovely video clip of a song explaining measure to introduce today's learning.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/ztmtfg8

Today I would like you to measure your toys. I would like you to choose 5 different toys to measure. If you have dinosaurs at home, these will be great to measure. Line your toys up from shortest to the tallest. Use objects from around your home to measure them

Write down how long each toy is and then put them in order from the shortest to the tallest. When comparing, remember our sentence stems;

My __________________   is    ______  pasta shapes taller/shorter.

My __________________   is    ______ pasta shapes long/short

Challenge: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/measuring-in-cm

Challenge; If you have a ruler, measure each objects and read how many centimeters long your object is.

Topic: Pick a challenge from the home learning grid.

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds really well, move on to watching set 3.

Ask your child to read the words below using Fred-talk before blending the words.

light

bright

night

might

fight

Now ask them to try spelling the words; Say the word slowly and allow them to decode the word independently to spell it. Keep a record of their score to share with us.

Phonics challenge:

Set 3 sound; ear (hear with your ear)

Can you label the images using the 'ear' trigraph?

English:

Can you write about a day in the life of a dinosaur?

Think about

  • What type of dinosaur you would like to be?
  • Where do you live?
  • What do you like to eat?
  • Who are your friends?
  • What do you like doing?

Maths:

We are continuing with multiplication today.
As a starter activity, practise counting in 10s with someone in your house.

Mild

Practical - Using any resources at home make groups of 10. You could use pasta, straws, sweets – anything you can find!

For example, for 2 x 10 = you would make 2 groups of 10 like the picture below:

I have 20 altogether.

Activity: Using resources can you have a go at making groups of 10 and then counting to see how many you have altogether?

1 x 10 =

4 x 10 =

2 x 10 =

3 x 10 =

Spicy

To represent a multiplication sum we can use an array.

Activity: Can you solve these multiplication sums and draw an array to represent each one?

5 x 10 =

3 x 10 =

6 x 10 =

Hot

Can you solve these multiplication word problems?

Remember to read the question carefully and circle the key information.

  1. I have 10 buckets of oranges. In each bucket I have 10 oranges. How many do I have altogether?
  2. I have 4 bags of sweets. I each bag I have 10 sweets. How many sweets do I have altogether?

Remember you can also use your propeller board.
