Top tips: Read the question carefully and circle key information.

  1. I have 2 boxes of Lego. In each box there are 2 pieces of Lego. How much do I have altogether?
  2. I have 4 baskets of strawberries. In each basket I have 10 strawberries. How many do I have altogether?
  3. I have 4 bags of sweets. In each bag I have 2 sweets. How many do I have altogether?

Remember you can also use your propeller maths board.

Year 2:

Propeller Maths board numbers 14 & 47.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Search.aspx?q=fractions

Remember, to find a fraction of an amount you can use the bar model to help you.

12
0 0 0  (3) 0 0 0  (3) 0 0 0  (3) 0 0 0  (3)

Number at the top, number of boxes on the bottom depends on the fraction. So, for example to find 1/4 you will need four boxes at the bottom and check how many are in one box. If you are trying to find 1/3 you will need three boxes at the bottom, and you add up the amount in three boxes. You have all done this before so should be able to remember. Please send me an email if this does not make sense.
