FOUNDATION

Phonics;

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

From Monday 20th April, new films will be released at the times shown below from Monday to Friday. The new Speed Sounds lessons YouTube schedule is now available on their website

Each film is around ten to fifteen minutes long and will be available for 24 hours.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds really well, move onto watching set 3.

Ask your child to read the words below using Fred-talk before blending the words.

fair

stair

lair

chair

hair

Now ask them to try spelling the words; Say the word slowly and allow them to decode the word independently to spell it. Keep a record of their score to share with us.

English:

Write a sentence about one or all of these images from the story

Can you tell me what is happening in this picture?

Can you spot digraphs you might have used?

oa (goat on a boat)                                                      ee (what do you see)

ow (blow the snow)                                                      oo (look at a book)

Maths;

Recap shape names. Play 'I am thinking of a shape’.

Describe the shape by sayings its properties and let the child guess. For example, “My shape has 3 sides, what am I?”

Use things around the house to make 2D shapes. How many can you make? You could use spaghetti or something similar.

Don’t forget to send me photos of the different shapes you make.

Challenge: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ordering-and-sequencing/shape-patterns
