I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds really well, move onto watching set 3.

Ask your child to read the words below using Fred-talk before blending the words; ‘ou’ shout it out

This week we are going to continue looking at shape.

We looked at 2D shapes last week and this week we are going to focus on 3D shapes. How are 2D shapes and 3D shapes different?

Remind the children that 2D shapes are flat and 3D shapes are fat. Children to play:https://www.education.com/games/3d-shapes/

Can you identify any shapes around the house that are 3D? Which ones can you name?

Challenge: Choose a shape activity you could do at home. Don’t forget to send me photos of your learning?

English:

Today we are going to look at how to make a potion. Watch the short videos below for some ideas.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drAyqL4cHH4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3gUhNrFRc4

Now write instructions on how to create a potion.

Remember to number your instructions and use imperative verbs (bossy verbs) when you are writing. You might also like to draw a diagram (a picture with labels) and include a list of ingredients.

Maths

Starter; Try making a total to 10, rather than 15

To start our week of ‘all things magic!’ you are going to be making a potion! I would love to see a picture of your potions so remember to send me a picture via our class email. Use your imagination to find a product in your kitchen that represents the ingredients.

Please choose one of the activities below.

Please Note; If you are unable to make potions today, as an alternative you can play a range of math games on www.topmarks.co.uk

Topic: DT

Have a go at designing your own potion bottle.  Think creatively and think about its suitability:

  • Shape of bottle
  • Colour
  • Label – What is the name of your potion?

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. New books can be accessed online through this link. You will need to register but it is completely free. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/

Spelling: Keep practising the year 1 Common Exception words. You have these in your packs.
