WALT write rhyming poetry around a theme.

In today's zoom session we have looked at creating an AABB rhyming pattern in poetry, based off of our book Roman Brit.

Today's task is for the children to create two of their own AABB rhyming pattern poem verses using the template they have been looking at.

They must use the starting line 'Unus, Duo, Tres, Quattuor'

Here are the two examples from the book:

'Unus, Duo, Tres, Quattuor,
We are Roman men of war.
If we get our aim just right,

We'll have mutton stew tonight!'

'Unus, Duo, Tres, Quattuor,

We are Roman men of war.

If anyone gets in our way,

We'll bash them down and make them pay!'

The AABB pattern is where the top two lines rhyme and the bottom two lines rhyme.
