After you have watched this video have a go at some of these activities:
A House That Once Was
Deep in the woods
is a house
just a house
that once was
but now isn’t
a home.
Who lived in that house? Who walked down its hallways? Why did they leave it, and where did they go?
Two children set off to find the answers, piecing together clues found, books left behind, forgotten photos, discarded toys, and creating their own vision of those who came before.
The children are currently enjoying reading this story. We have created some beautiful illustrations with our fingers to imitate those in the story and we are currently writing poetry about where the family could be.
Below I have attached an activity pack that you and your children can do together at home based on our story. I have also put some rhyming activities that you could do to help them with our learning in school.
Jack and the Baked Beanstalk
We have read Jack and the Baked Beanstalk. We created our very own giant and used some fantastic adjectives to describe it.
The children also came up with their own magic food. We had yellow bananas which built a large, magical, yellow beanstalk. We also had red apples, only red ones, which grew into a bright, super tall beanstalk.
We then innovated our own version of Jack and the baked beanstalk, the children enjoyed coming up with their own ideas and have wonderful imaginations! I cannot wait to share their work with you.

Building Boy
We have been reading Building Boy and alongside our English we have been doing DT and creating our very own Building Boy. The boys have written some lovely adventure stories too.
