English

Writing our own story:

In English today we are going to be writing an independent story. Focus on 1-2 pages of high quality writing. Who lives in the hut? What do they do? What happens? You need to make a plan and decide this first of all.

Use the story start below to begin your writing, and then you can finish the story.

Think about:

Genre - will it be adventure? Scary? Mystery? Sci-Fi? Historical? Choose your theme and stick with it.

Characters - choose 2 or 3 (not too many!) Good and bad. Helpers and heroes, etc.

Context - it is based in South America, so make sure you choose plants, animals and settings that are linked: rainforests, parrots, bats, Amazon river, etc.

Beginning/middle/end

-Spelling - check it

Good range of descriptive vocabulary - describe the settings, the characters and try and use exciting vocabulary. E.g. Mysteriously, the bat swirled higher and higher into the sky and then suddenly disappeared like a shadow.

Setting descriptions: How many of these can you use in your story?
