Journey to the River Sea Chapter 16
WALT identify how writers’ language choices can enhance meaning, e.g. repetition, emotive vocabulary, varied sentence structure or line length, sound effects.
There are many scenes in Chapter 16, each focusing on a sense of unease. In each of these scenes things are going wrong, or going from bad to worse. We are going to explore how the author has created a sense of unease.
Firstly, we will unpick the new vocabulary we will encounter in chapter 16. Then we will read some of chapter 16, identifying various techniques that Eva Ibbotson used to create a sense of unease. Then you will identify and explain 8 different examples where Eva Ibbotson has create a sense of foreboding.
