English

Today we are focusing on words with a suffix.

First, watch this video about the rainforest. With a grown up in your house, discuss the questions.

In your writing today I would also like to see some adjectives and expanded noun phrases.
My example: The small, beautiful butterfly is fragile.
Today we are focusing on words with a suffix, we will be specifically looking at ing, er and est.

Look at the word mats below, you will notice that when we use certain words ending in a suffix the root word needs to change.

Challenge: Can you put one of these words into a sentence?

Now we are going to practise using these words to describe some pictures from our story Animal Explorers.

In the orange boxes are some suffix words for you to try and use in your sentences, you can also use any of the words on the suffix word mats above.

Using these words, write a sentence about the pictures.

Challenge: Can you add adjectives and expanded noun phrases to your writing?
