English:

Today you are going to write a recipe for an amazing sandwich, it can have any ingredients you like - and you can use any type of bread, baguette or rolls.  Your recipe must have at least 4 different fillings.  Remember - recipes are instructional texts that explain how to make something.  They need to include:

  • A title
  • A picture of the food
  • A list of 'What you will need'
  • Numbered steps
  • Imperative verbs ('bossy' verbs that sound like orders eg.  slice or cut.

Use the sandwich recipe at the bottom of the page to help you. 

In your books:

Write your recipe with at least 4 fillings – it can be a sensible sandwich or a ghastly mix of fillings. 

 

Maths:

In maths this week, you will be consolidating your understanding of the number operations, using mental arithmetic and written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You will need to know when to use mental arithmetic and when to use a written method.

Topic:

To finish off this week you are going to look at food packaging.  Food comes in many different packages using a range of materials.  Packaging includes cardboard, boxes, plastic, bottles, glass, jars, paper, wrappers, cartons, trays, bags and tins.  Have a look in your kitchen cupboards.  Write 2 products for each of these packaging types:

  • Tins
  • Plastic of glass bottles
  • Glass jars
  • Cardboard boxes
  • Plastic wrappers

In your books or on a piece of paper.  Create a label for a bar of chocolate. Think of a name for your chocolate bar and make the wrapper really eye-catching.  Add some of the important label details to make it look realistic.  You can just draw the front of the bar – or you can draw the front and the back.  Google some chocolate bar wrappers to get some ideas:
