Friday 10th July

Good morning everyone! Happy Friday!

We hope you enjoyed creating your TV advert yesterday. Today you are going to learn about food chains. We would like to see how you are getting on, so remember you can send us your work on our class email addresses below:

Miss Harcourt: falcons@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

Mrs Walters: kestrels@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

Enjoy!

From Miss Harcourt and Mrs Walters 😊

Now, get creative and write a great story! Think about:

  • A unique opening (not ONE DAY or ONCE UPON A TIME!)
  • Describe the settings and charatcers
  • Use similes and metaphors
  • Capital letters and full stops – at least! (Commas, brackets, correct speech, etc)
  • A beginning, middle and end

Maths

In our next maths unit you are going to extend your understanding of fractions and mixed numbers by adding and subtracting fractions.

Today you are going to apply your knowledge of factors to use common factors to simplify fractions.

Now have a look at the main maths task below:

If you need another reminder of simplifying fractions, look at the shared example below:

Now choose from the mild, spicy or hot challenges. (If you feel confident try more than one!)

If you are feeling really confident with using using common factors to simplify fractions, challenge yourself with these extra mastery challenges:

Now complete your propeller board using the numbers Side A 30-90 : 45

                                                                                  Side B 10-90 : 25

Also remember to keep practising your times tables on TTRS.
