English:

Britain has a lot of very famous people who you may or may not have heard of. Have a look at some of these famous people.

Imagine you can invite one of these people around for a tea party. Write an invitation letter to one of these people explaining where they need to go, what you might want them to bring with them, and why you want them to come.

Maths

Today we are going to be solving word problems involving halves and quarters.

You can draw a part whole model to help you share equally into halves and quarters. Remember to count each group to check they are equal.

Task:

Mild:

  1. I have 6 sweets. I give half to my friend. How many do I give to my friend?
  2. Libby drinks 10 cups of tea in one day How many would she drink in half a day?
  3. I have 12 pieces of chocolate. I give a quarter to my friend. How many pieces of chocolate does my friend get?

Spicy:

  1. I have 20 toy cars. I share them people 2 people. How many cars does each person get?
  2. There were 16 biscuits in a packet. A quarter of the biscuits were eaten. How many biscuits were eaten?
  3. Daisy ordered 22 pencils. Only half were delivered. How many were delivered?

Hot:

  1. A teddy bear costs £4. It is now half price. How much is it now?
  2. A recipe needs 100ml of milk. I only have half the amount of milk that is needed. How much milk do I have?
  3. A ticket to a theme park costs £20. I split the price between 4 people. How much does each person pay?

Also don’t forget to access https://play.numbots.com/#/account/school-login-type and you can use your propeller maths board.

Topic: Art

I know you love drawing portraits of other people, so today your challenge is to pick a member of the Royal family and draw a portrait of them. Remember when you are drawing a portrait you only draw to their shoulders. You can leave it black and white or you can add colour. Please take your time. If you find a picture and copy it, you will be drawing from observation (you are drawing what you can see).

You can create your image using anything pen, pencil, paint or using other materials you can find around the house, like pasta for example.

Have a look below at different portrait styles. You can choose what style you want to work in.

If you research portraits of the royal family, you will find lots of other ideas. Have fun! Remember to send me some pictures, I can’t wait to see what they look like 😊

Reading:

Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. New books can be accessed online through this link. You will need to register but it is completely free. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/
