Friday 1st May

Happy Friday Woodpeckers!

Our last day on our theme 'Extreme Earth' - I hope you've enjoyed it!

I also sent a message yesterday letting you all know that sadly, Mrs Burch has now left our school. As we are not there, she has not been able to say goodbye as she would have liked to, but she wants to be able to pop back and see you all when we return.

Please could you email me a little message that I can put into a card and pass on to her. Use:

See below for today's learning.
Have a great weekend.

English:

These videos show the different stages that happened during the eruption of the volcano in Pompeii. Today you are going to pretend that you were there and write a diary.

  • What happened?
  • What did you feel? See? Hear? Smell? Touch? Taste?
  • Aim for 1-2 pages.

Use the picture at the bottom to help get you started.

Maths:

To complete your learning on Roman numerals, I would like you to write down 4 addition and 4 subtraction sums with the answers I have provided. For each level of difficulty, I have put an example to help your understanding.

Mild: 26         Example: XXI + V      or     L - XXIV

Spicy: 132     Example: CXX + XII     or    CL – XVIII

Hot: 1,214    Example: MC + CXIV    or  MCCC - LXXXVI

Try this quiz about Roman Numerals - there are 10 levels! See how well you can do. Try and write them down in your book when you have checked them for extra practise!!

https://www.transum.org/software/SW/Starter_of_the_day/Students/Roman_Numerals.asp

In the top corner of your rapid recall whiteboard, you will have a space to write your number.

Range 10-20: 13

Range 30-60: 52

Range 350-450: 401

Range 30-99: 40

Topic:

THEN, to finish the week off…

Try this quiz on Extreme Earth:

https://www.abc.net.au/science/games/quizzes/2014/extremeearth/

Give it a try, and then at the end, it will tell you the answers. See how you get on the first time, read the information it gives you, and then try it again! Can you beat your score?

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record.

Spellings:

Please practise your spellings daily. These lists are on our class page. You can practise the Year 1/2, Year 3/4 and the Year 5/6 spelling lists. You all know which spellings you should be practising anyway.
