Read each sentence to check it makes sense
Use your best handwriting
In your book
Write your diary, referring to your plan, the painting and the checklist.
Read your diary to a family member
Maths:
In maths this week, you will be applying your understanding of the times tables to solve multiplication and division problems. You will need to decide which method is best for your calculation.
To multiply and divide by multiples of 10 and 100, use known multiplication facts. Like this: 3 x 4 = 12 so 30 x 4 = 120, 30 x 40 = 1200 and 300 x 4 = 1200.
To solve 240 ÷ 4, ignore the 0 and use the fact 24 ÷ 4 = 6 (from the multiplication fact 6 x 4 = 24). When you write your answer remember that 240 is 10 times greater than 24, so your answer will be 10 times greater. So, 240 ÷ 4 = 60.
You will also be multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100. This clip reminds you how to use place value to do this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z36tyrd/articles/z2fkwxs
And you might need to use written methods to solve some of the multiplication and division challenges. These clips will remind you of the methods: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z36tyrd
You can also contact us via email, if you need any help.
Rapid recall whiteboard - Choose a number and complete your board.
Don’t forget to practise Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS)
Topic:
This afternoon you are going to make a 3D lighthouse based on Brian Pollard’s paintings of Smeaton’s Tower. Hopefully you will be able to find a suitable cylinder shape for the lighthouse and if you can, paint it in red and white.
Reading:
Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. Continue using myON to do your online reading and quizzes at: https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html. We can see how many books you have read and how you are doing on your quizzes. So, go on, let’s get reading!
Spellings:
Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. You will need to see which ones you want to work on. If you can spell the Year 2 spellings, then do the Year 3/4. We will be focusing on 10 spellings every week. On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
