Friday 27th March

Friday 27th March

Hello Badgers! It’s the end of your first week at home. I hope you’ve enjoyed yourselves.

Here is your work for today! Once you’ve done it, I’d love to see what you’ve done. So you can send some photos or files of things that you have done to this email address…

badgers@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

Make sure you get a grown-up to help you with that bit!
So here is your work for today…

English:

Today is Friday, which means it’s Grammar Day! If you scroll down this page, you will find the picture of the grammar that you need to work on today.
Before you do the work, have a look at this video by clicking this link:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z8mxrwx/articles/z9hjwxs

You need to complete it in your green books. It is all about prefixes. The prefixes are used to make the word mean the opposite to what is written. So you need to add the correct prefix to change the meaning.
For example, if it says ‘happy’, you can add the prefix ‘un-‘ to make the word ‘unhappy’.

Once you have completed the work on the picture, click on this link and play this game.

Maths:

A change from Propeller Maths today! Well done for doing so much of it over the last few days. Today, we are looking at solving addition and subtraction questions using a written method. Choose a spice for yourself and complete all six of the fluency problems.

Mild Spice:

  1. 35 + 73 =
  2. 82 + 24 =
  3. 53 + 64 =
  4. 74 - 24 =
  5. 38 - 14 =
  6. 157 - 132 =

Spicy:

  1. 633 + 563 =
  2. 683 + 246 =
  3. 274 + 643 =
  4. 762 - 268 =
  5. 1532 - 1274 =
  6. 4674  - 743 =

Mouth on Fire

  1. 4742 + 26255 =
  2. 642 + 5368 =
  3. 57.3 + 257.4 =
  4. 10034 – 9562 =
  5. 6436 – 3879 =
  6. £172.50 - £16.60 =

Topic:

This term, we have learnt about Ancient Greeks. This is inspired by someone in Otter class (KB) who actually did this! Your challenge is to use some toys from home to create an Ancient Greek scene. It could be of anything.

Here are a few ideas:

Ancient Olympics

The Greek Gods

An Ancient Greek Myth

Athens vs Sparta at war

You could get really excited and make little costumes for your toys, or maybe make them some props to hold! Have some fun with this task.

Once you have created your scene, take a photo of it and send it to me!

Things to do Daily:

Please spend time reading each day on your own and to an adult.
