This year we have named our classes after inspirational people from around the world and throughout history. We are ‘Goodall Class’ named after Jane Goodall, who has dedicated her life to animal conservation – and the plight of chimpanzees. The children have enjoyed learning about her life.
I am Ms Edwards and I will be teaching your children this year, with the support of Mrs Champion, our fabulous TA.
Our P.E. day is Tuesday and as usual the children will need to come to school in their P.E. kits.
Homework will be sent home on Friday. Children will have spellings to learn and a times tables travels sheet, but these are not to be handed in. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are trying to keep home learning as virtual and contained as possible, to avoid the contact between school and home. It would be great if children could practise their spellings and times tables travels throughout the week. If you can ask your children to spell words or recall tables – that would help! Spelling tests are on Friday and Times Tables Travels tests are on Wednesday.
Children will also take home a reading book each week, this is to be kept at home and returned returned when the book is completed. The children have a second library book that they read in school. Due to current restrictions we won’t be using reading diaries.
Our topic this term is 'The Stone Age to the Iron Age' and the children are already enjoying learning about life in prehistoric times.
The children will also receive special 1:1 conferencing sessions, when I will be able to work on their own special targets, specifically linked to the 'catch-up curriculum' due to the impact of COVID-19. On these days class lessons will be covered by Miss Drage.
It has been great meeting so many of you before and after school. If you have any concerns or questions please feel free to talk to me at the end of the day. You can also call or contact me on our class email address:
