MATHS GIFTED AND TALENTED CLUB

Maths Gifted and Talented Club runs every Tuesday lunchtime for children across KS2. They spend time solving problems, developing their ability to work strategically and applying their reasoning skills.

Children work on puzzles and games and often like to go home and challenge their parents.

Here are some of the problems and games we have had a look at. See if you can try some too!

FACTORS AND MULTIPLES GAME

This is a game for 2 players.

The first player chooses a positive even number that is less than 50, and crosses it out on the grid.

The second player chooses a number to cross out. This number must be a factor or multiple of the first number.

Players continue to take it in turn to cross out numbers, at each stage choosing a number that is a factor or multiple of the number crossed out by the other player.

The first person who is unable to cross out a number loses.

Try the game and see how you get on. We had a great time and learnt which numbers you shouldn't choose.
