Daily maths lesson videos will be uploaded on to tapestry. We look forward to seeing your learning uploaded on tapestry. Alternatively you can email your learning to your class teacher.
This week, children will be comparing numbers to 10. They will recap words such as 'more than', 'less than', 'fewest' and 'most'.
Children may think that if objects are larger, there are more of them. Use a range of sizes of objects to compare, making sure that there are sometimes more and sometimes fewer of the larger object. Show children objects that are not aligned properly so the larger objects take up more space or one line is more spread out. Challenge children to explain what is confusing about the layout and try to correct it. Children may think that when a line of objects is longer there must be more objects even when they are spread out more.
You may wish to take opportunities throughout the day to build and reinforce mathematical concepts. This gives children’s learning purpose and meaning in the wider context of their lives. There are some activities below:
Don't forget to log in to Numbots children. Last week's Numbot's champion was Hallie Westmore in Earhart Class. Well done Hallie!
Can you be this weeks champ?
