Monday 15th June

Good morning everyone. We hope you have had a lovely weekend and you are ready for another exciting week of learning. This week our new topic will be Aliens and Space! We will be learning different things that link to space. We look forward to seeing pictures of your amazing work – keep sending them to us using our class emails 😊

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on YouTube for children to watch at home from 9:30am and will be available for 24 hours.  All films will be in separate categories on the YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).

Note; Keep asking your child to tell you the set 2 and 3 sounds in their home learning packs so that you know which sounds to practise.

You can also access some fun phonics games here; www.phonicsplay.co.uk

English:

The pictures from this week’s story have been jumbled up. Can you use them to make up your own story? You could either write it down or draw a story map and tell your story to an adult.

I have attached the pictures as a word document below, should you wish to print them.

Maths:

Find the missing numbers;

Today you are going to use your addition skills to solve a set of word problems. Here is an example of a word problem along with a reminder of the strategies to solve them that you used in school;

Use a number line or the part-whole model to solve the word problems below;

Challenge;

In the top corner of your rapid recall whiteboard, you will have a space to write your number; Today's number is 12

Topic: Art

Today you are going to learn what space is and what is in space. Use the link below to find a story all about space; https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/story-whats-in-space/en/#/review/story-whats-in-space/book.swf?bookXML=whats-in-space.xml

After you have read through the story children are to create their own pictures of space using what they have just learnt. Here are some examples below;

Reading:  Log in to your myON account here;  https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html

 You can choose from a variety of texts and most will have a quiz to go with them. We can log in and see how you are getting on so I would love to see your quiz scores, 100% of course.

Handwriting:

 We would like you to practise your weekly spellings in our fancy handwriting style. Please have a look at the document attached to show you the joins.

Spellings:

Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. You can practise 10 spelling which mix phonics and Common Exception Words OR 10 Common Exception words if you can already spell the words in option 1.  On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
