Monday

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

From Monday 20th April, new films will be released at the times shown below from Monday to Friday. The new Speed Sounds lessons YouTube schedule is now available on their website

Each film is around ten to fifteen minutes long and will be available for 24 hours.

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds really well, move onto watching set 3.

Ask your child to read the words below using Fred-talk before blending the words.

three

been

green

seen

sleep

Now ask them to try spelling the words; Say the word slowly and allow them to decode the word independently to spell it. Keep a record of their score to share with us.

Maths:

Children to draw around their hand. Children to draw around your hand. Which is longer/ taller/bigger? If there are others at home, get them involved so you have more hands to measure. Use objects to measure how long each one is. Remind the children they need to measure with objects that are the same length to make it fair.  Pasta pieces would work here if you have no other resources.

Play ideas: Create a picture and paint your hands. Make a family handprint picture.

 Storytelling:

Watch this YouTube clip to hear the story ‘Bumpus Jumpus Dinosaurumpus’.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eUNYIFwEGY

Listen to the story again, can you copy the actions for each dinosaur?  Can you twizzle in a spin and swish your tail?

Topic:

Pick a challenge from the home learning grid on the class page. It is a special dinosaur theme this week!
