Maths: Count on and back to 20. Make some mistakes as you do and see if your child can notice. Which number did I miss? What comes next?
We are going to revisit addition this week. Remind children that when we add, the number gets bigger. Encourage children to use this language when talking about their Maths.
Using objects (this could be toys, pencils, pasta pieces etc) get the children to add small amounts to 10. If they manage this, take the addition sums up to 20.
Challenge: Give children an amount and ask how many more will we need to add to get to a certain number. For example, show them 3, how many more do I need to get to 6. Show me. You can extend this to 20 if they are able to do this to 10.
If you want an extra challenge. Adults you will need to create a free account first, in order to access it.
