Counting to 10

Parents

Subitising is the ability to instantly recognise the number of objects in a small group without the need to count them.

Your child will be learning to subitise using their flash cards. A lot of practice will help master recognising amounts regardless of their representation.

How many spots does the butterfly have?

Can you find any more animals or objects that are showing the number 8?

How many spots does the lady bug have? How can you check?

Who has the most spots?

How many spots can you see? How many counters can you see?

Here they have used a 10 frame to show how many spots the butterfly has. I would like you to use you counters and show me the numbers below on yours 10 frame.
