As you watch the film stop and start the video to allow you to answer these questions:
What do plants need to survive? Minerals (nutrients) , W_______ and L_________ .
What do the climber plants do when they get through the rainforest canopy?
What are the drawbacks for the ‘air’ plants that grow upon the highest branches of trees? Describe them.
How are the Sundew plants unusual? Explain.
Describe the defence mechanism the Milkweed plant has against Monarch butterfly caterpillars. Explain how the young Monarch butterfly is beneficial to the Milkweed plant.
What is interesting about the Saguaro cactus?
Discuss what you think when David Attenborough shares ‘Plants fuel the diversity of life.’ (47th minute of documentary).
After watching ‘Life’ episode 9 ‘Plants’ for inspiration please read through the PowerPoint completing the tasks as you go. Today you will complete the plant planning sheet (see below), this will then help you to create a description of your plant for your creative short story tomorrow. Click on the hyperlinks as you go and watch the links for added information and inspiration.

After completing the English task this morning by watching David Attenborough’s ‘Plants’, working your way through the English PowerPoint (clicking and watching the links as you went). It is now time to draw in detail your plant as you discover it. Try to include yourself in the picture. If the plant towers above you, then draw yourself under it. If the plant is tiny, you could draw just your hand against it. However, you decide to draw yourself into the picture have fun and sketch it in rough first.
