Monday - May the 4th be with you!

Good morning everyone, and welcome to ALL THINGS MAGIC week!

Also, MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU! laugh

This week, we will be looking at potions, dragons, witches and wizards, spells, flying, tricks, and anything else you can imagine!

Let your imaginations run wild. Hope you enjoy the week!

See your learning below.

Mr B 😊

English:

You are going to read the poem, ‘The Magic Box’ by Kit Wright (at the bottom of the page).

Now you are going to write your own version, keeping in the same style as the writer. Make it as magical as you can!

I will put in the box…

I will put in the box…

I will put in the box…

My box is fashioned from…

I shall _____ in my box…

We can’t wait to see what you come up with! Make sure you send them over.

Maths:

This week in maths, you will be consolidating and extending your understanding of place value by looking at numbers up to 1,000,000. On Friday, you will recap negative numbers and understand how to use number lines to work out the difference between positive and negative numbers.

Watch the videos and then have a go at the worksheets attached. Today’s lesson focuses on recognising numbers in numerals and in words.

Range 10-20: 16

Range 30-60: 53

Range 350-450: 402

Range 30-99: 66

Topic:

Have a look at these 12 magical art techniques! Which one can you try?

If you are feeling scientific instead, see if you can try this invisible ink! Very cool! YOU WILL NEED A LEMON!

(Also, if you do use a candle, get an adult to do it with you – or a hairdryer on hot should work well too!)

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record.

Spellings:

Please practise your spellings daily. These lists are on our class page. You can practise the Year 1/2, Year 3/4 and the Year 5/6 spelling lists. You all know which spellings you should be practising anyway.
