Welcome to another new week Year 6,
We hope you had a great week last week and enjoyed learning about plants. Hopefully you will also enjoy learning about Food and where it comes from this week.
When you have completed any of your work, please email it to us. Email it to your class teacher still. Here are our email addresses below:

Farm to Fork. What is this?
Below is a link to 18 different videos, there is a list down the side. From potatoes, to fish, to pineapples! Choose one of these videos as your inspiration to write about ‘Farm to Fork’. Explain how food gets from its origin, to our plates! 😊 Enjoy!
Retell your own version of one of these processes in a poster, bullet pointed list or informational piece of writing. Up to you!
This week you are going to use your knowledge of the four operations to consider the properties of numbers.
Today you are going to use efficient mental methods for solving calculations with smaller numbers, including decimals.
This afternoon we will be looking at food waste, what happens to it and the effect it has on the world. I hope you’ll think twice about not finishing your tea tonight! There are three videos below to tell you more…
What can we do with our waste food to make the world better?
How to protect the planet and reduce food waste:
When you have watched the videos above, try out this Food Waste quiz and see how you get on (I got 6 out of 7!)
For a last one, watch this video below. It follows the journey of a leek. Just because we like everything to look the same in the supermarket, they have to waste so much of the leek until it gets there! Solution? Buy wonky veg at the supermarket! It tastes exactly the same!
Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. You can now also go on: https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html to do your online reading and quizzes too! We can see how many books you have read and how you are doing on your quizzes. So go on, let’s get reading!
Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. You will need to see which ones you want to work on. If you can spell all of the Year 3/4 words, then do the Year 5/6 spellings. We will be focusing on 10 spellings every week. On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
