Good morning everyone. We hope you have had a lovely weekend and you are ready for another exciting week of learning. This week our new topic will be China! We will be learning different things that link to the country of China. We look forward to seeing pictures of your amazing work – keep sending them to us using our class emails 😊 |
Phonics: Phonics lessons on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see). Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.
Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds well, move onto watching set 3.
You can also play some cool phonics games here; https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/ |
English;
This week you are going to be learning about a Chinese Folktale called; The Magic Paintbrush. It is a tale of honesty against power and greed.
Today we would like you to read the Folktale and create a story map to help you with retelling the story. Remember to include adjectives to describe your images, this will help with tomorrows learning.
If you cannot open the word document, you can find other versions of The Magic Paintbrush on YouTube. |
Maths:
Learn to say some numbers in Chinese. Skip to 7min 20secs for the numbers section but feel free to explore the rest of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pjyc5GCNzwk
Warm up - count in steps of 2, 3, and 5 from 0, and in tens from any number, forward and backward. You need to know these times tables by the end of the year.

Log in to your myON account here; https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html
You can choose from a variety of texts and most will have a quiz to go with them. We can log in and see how you are getting on so I would love to see your quiz scores, 100% of course.
Handwriting:
We would like you to practise your weekly spellings in our fancy handwriting style. Please have a look at the document attached to show you the joins. |
Spellings: Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. You will need to see which ones you want to work on. If you can already spell all of the Year 1 & 2 spellings, then have a go at the Year 3/4. We will be focusing on 10 spellings every week. On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
