Monday 8th June

Good morning everyone. We hope you have had a lovely weekend and you are ready for another exciting week of learning. This week our new topic will be China! We will be learning different things that link to the country of China. We look forward to seeing pictures of your amazing work – keep sending them to us using our class emails 😊

Phonics:

Phonics lessons on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds well, move onto watching set 3.

You can also play some fun phonics games here;  https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/

English:

This week we are going to learning about a Chinese Folktale called; The Magic Paintbrush. It is a tale of honesty against power and greed.

Today we would like you to read the Folktale and create a story map to help you with retelling the story. Remember to include adjectives to describe your images, this will help with tomorrows learning.

If you cannot open the word document, you can find other versions of The Magic Paintbrush to watch on YouTube.

Maths:

Learn to say some numbers in Chinese. Skip to 7min 20secs for the numbers section but feel free to explore the rest of the video.

Today we would like you to learn about China and locate it on a map so have a look for China on Google Earth if you can. Then, if you follow the link below, you can find out some really cool facts about China.

https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/discover/geography/countries/30-cool-facts-about-china/

Using the information you find, create a fact file all about China focusing on different geographical aspects.

Here are some fact-file templates to help you below, I have also attached them if you would like to print out a template;
