Thursday 11th June

Good morning everybody!

We hope you enjoyed planning your own Chinese myth yesterday. We are looking forward to reading some of them over the next couple of days. Remember when you have completed any of your work, please email it to your class teacher. We would love to see the work you are doing!

Here are our email addresses below:

Miss Harcourt: falcons@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

Mrs Walters: kestrels@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

Have a good day!

From Miss Harcourt and Mrs Walters 😊

English:

Today we would like you to write your story! Use the innovated plan you used yesterday to inform your ideas. You need to aim for 5 or 6 paragraphs (1 ½ - 2 pages of writing) Use the success criteria below so you include lots of different features.

You need to use:

  • A range of conjunctions
  • Exciting vocabulary
  • A range of punctuation including inverted commas, ellipsis, brackets, commas, apostrophes and exclamation marks
  • The past tense
  • Paragraphs
  • Parenthesis.

Don’t worry- you will have two days to complete this!

Maths:

Over the next few weeks you will be consolidating your understanding and use of written methods of calculation for the four operations.

Firstly today complete an arithmetic warm up:

Today you are going to solve problems using written methods of addition and subtraction.

Now have a look at the main maths task below:

If you need a reminder look at the shared example below:

Now choose from the mild, spicy or hot challenges. (If you feel confident try more than one!)

If you are feeling really confident with rounding challenge yourself with these extra mastery challenges:

Now complete your propeller board using the numbers Side A 30-90 : 86

                                                                                            Side B 10-90 : 86

Topic:

Today you are going to learn about Fu Hao. She was the most powerful woman to live during the Shang Dynasty. Have a look at the links below to find out about her.

There is also a word document attached where you can find out more facts about Fu Hao.

Once you have done your research, we would like you to write a diary entry. This can be done in two ways.

Option 1: Write a diary entry from the point of view of Fu Hao as she led the Shang to victory over the Tu-Fang.

Points to discuss: How she prepared her troops for battle, what strategies she used, emotions she felt, what she did to celebrate victory etc.

Option 2: Write a diary entry from the point of view of an archaeologist who has just found Fu Hao’s tomb.

Points to discuss: How did you find the tomb, what did you find in there, why do you think her tomb had so much in it, how you felt about this amazing discovery.

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record.  You can now also go on: https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html to do your online reading and quizzes too! We can see how many books you have read and how you are doing on your quizzes. So go on, let’s get reading!
