Thursday 11th June

Good morning everyone. We hope you have had a lovely weekend and you are ready for another exciting week of learning. This week our new topic will be China! We will be learning different things that link to the country of China. We look forward to seeing pictures of your amazing work – keep sending them to us using our class emails 😊

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds really well, move onto watching set 3.

You can also access some fun phonic games here; https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/

English:

Today we would like you to plan your own adventure story with a magic paintbrush.

Create a story map and remember to think about what adjectives you will use to add description to your story.

You can create your own story, or you might like to follow The Magic Paintbrush story and change some of the events or characters.  I think I might write a story about a magic rubber that wipes problems away. What do you think?

Use the plot matrix below to help you plan ideas before creating your story map.

Maths; Today we would like you to use the bar model method to solve some missing number addition problems. Here are two examples for you to solve below;

Now draw your own bar models to solve these;

Now choose one or all of these challenges;

Remember you can choose a number for your propeller math board or access your numbots account.

Topic: History

Today you learn about daily life in Ancient China.

Watch or read facts about Ancient China using the links below;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFq0mq-KtaE

https://www.history.com/tag/ancient-china

Draw  a picture to represent an aspect of the daily life in China. Then, write a few sentences to explain your picture underneath.

Reading:

Log in to your myON account here;  https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html

You can choose from a variety of texts and most will have a quiz to go with them. We can log in and see how you are getting on so I would love to see your quiz scores, 100% of course.

Handwriting:

We would like  you to practise your weekly spellings in our fancy handwriting style. Please have a look at the document attached to show you the joins.

Spellings:

Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
