Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on YouTube for children to watch at home from 9:30am and will be available for 24 hours.  All films will be in separate categories on the YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).

Note; Keep asking your child to tell you the set 2 and 3 sounds in their home learning packs so that you know which sounds to practise.

Storytelling:

Today we are going to learn to use special words to describe objects, these are called adjectives.  Your task is to find lots of objects in your house and use special words to describe them.

First, complete my ‘find me’ challenge; adults please change the colour/ size if you don’t have this at home;

Find me a small plate.

Find me a yellow cup.

Find me a something that it soft. Tell your grown up; The ___________ is soft.

Now it’s your turn. Find objects around your home and think of your own special words to describe them using our sentence stems;

The _______________ is ______________.

The _______________ is _______________ and _______________.

Maths;

Warm up by asking your child to name the shape you are describing; Here is a helpful guide;

Tip; The mathematical term for corners is 'vertices'.

I have 3 sides and 3 corners/vertices. What am I?

I have 1 curved side. What am I?

Today we will continue to sort shapes, but this time we will focus on their  properties. Can you ask your child to find and sort objects that have curved sides and straight sides?  Can they find objects that have the same properties?

Challenge; Look at the square and rectangle. What is the same and what is different?

Topic: Pick a challenge from the home learning grid.

Reading:

Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. New books can be accessed online through this link. You will need to register but it is completely free. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/.

Remember you can also access your myON account using your AR reading login; www.myon.co.uk

Talking Challenge;

 Look at the painting below created by the artist Wassily Kandinsky.

What do you like or dislike about this painting?

I like _______________________ because _____________________

I don’t like __________________ because _____________________

In my opinion ____________________________

I noticed that ______________________________
