Good morning everyone!
We have had a great week so far learning about different artists. Today you are going to learn about another artist called Edvard Munch. He painted an amazing picture called 'The Scream'. We would like to see how you are getting on, so remember you can send us your work on our class email addresses below:

From Miss Harcourt and Mrs Walters 😊
Today’s English is a creative task and is based on a picture painted by Edvard Munch. Before you start, we would like you to read up on him using the weblink below so that you can find out about the difficult life he lived https://kids.kiddle.co/Edvard_Munch
When you have found out about him, we would like you to take a look at a video clip of Sophia and Bella talking about one of his most famous pictures ‘The Scream’.
Your task today is to write a short story about this picture. You have freedom to write any way you want but it must reflect the mood of the picture. We have added a few writing prompts below to help you if needed but if you have a better idea, then go with it!
The possibilities are endless! Enjoy…
This week have been using formal written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including with real life contexts. Today we are going to review how confident you feel and use your skills to solve problems.
Now have a go at this reflection task. You will need to use your reasoning skills and think about the problem.
Now let’s explore our thinking further. Can you solve the power puzzle below?
What is the longest chain you can make? What is the shortest?
If you think you need more practise at using the written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division then have a look at the Strengthening tasks below.
If you feel confident with using the written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division then have a look at the Deepening tasks below.
If you want another challenge have a go at the extra mastery challenges.
Art: Draw the Scream by Edvard Munch
Take a look at the step by step video link below and see if you can draw your own Scream picture. If you don’t have the correct resources, don’t worry as it looks just as good if it’s drawn with a black biro and coloured pencils. Have a go – see how you get on!
If you find it too challenging, we have added an outline colouring sheet; you could try tracing it onto a blank sheet of paper and then adding colour using coloured pencils or felt pens.
Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. You can now also go on: https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html to do your online reading and quizzes too! We can see how many books you have read and how you are doing on your quizzes. So go on, let’s get reading!
Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. You will need to see which ones you want to work on. If you can spell all of the Year 3/4 words, then do the Year 5/6. We will be focusing on 10 spellings every week. On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
