Cut three pieces of paper into strips of different lengths. Which is the longest? Which is the shortest? Get your child to order each piece from shortest to longest. Explain how we measure how long something is.
The children can then find different objects around the house to measure from shortest to longest. How many can they order? What is the longest object they can find? Don’t forget to email me your work so I can see all your measuring.
Today's challenge will take you a little longer so you may want to stretch it out over a few days. Remember to take pictures and send them to me and get everyone involved at home so you have lots of different lengths to measure.
Play ideas: Children to organise some of their favourite toys from shortest to longest/ biggest to smallest.
