 FOUNDATION

English:

Watch the video to recap the steps in the life cycle of a plant.  Then, create a story map, drawing a picture to represent each step.

Can you label your picture using these key words; stem, leaves, root, flower, seed

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zpxnyrd/articles/z2vdjxs

Maths:

Maths:

Count up and back to 20.  Get your child to count using either claps, jumps or stamps. They can clap, jump or stamp with any numbers up to 20. Play a game so you count how many they have clapped, jumped or stamped and then swap over. How many numbers can they find around the house? Where can they see different numbers around the house?

I would like the children to carry on with subtracting today. Please complete these sums using pictures in their exercise books or on paper. They need to draw the amount and then cross out however many they are taking away. Please see the picture below:

Challenge:

https://www.arcademics.com/games/mission

The children will have to use their fingers to solve these subtractions. They will have to work backwards so may need some support to start with

Topic: Pick a challenge from the home learning grid on the class page.

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record.

Phonics:

It is really important that you try and keep daily phonics going as this will ensure they keep making progress with both their reading and writing. Below there is also link to e-books which have been made available for you and your children to access at home. Any queries on which books they should be reading, please do not hesitate to contact me over email.

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

Three short Speed Sound lessons with one of our trainers will be available every day for the next two weeks. The films will only be available at the times below:

  • Set 1 Speed Sounds at 9.30 am and again at 12.30 pm
  • Set 2 Speed Sounds at 10.00 am and again at 1.00 pm
  • Set 3 Speed Sounds at 10.30 am and again at 1.30 pm

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

Ask your child to read the words below using Fred-talk before blending the words.

fox

box

fix

six

sing

Now ask them to try spelling the words; Say the word slowly and allow them to decode the word independently to spell it. Keep a record of their score to share with us.

At the bottom of the page I have added some exciting ways to keep the spelling magic alive! It is ok to drop the pencil and try something new.

YEAR ONE

PE : 9am work out with Joe Wicks Body Coach  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3LPrhI0v-w

Phonics:

Show the children the sounds in their home learning packs. As you point to each sound, ask your child to shout it out. Then, ask them to say the sounds and blend the words that match the sound (also listed in your pack).

English:   Watch the story of the Little Red Riding Hood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egzPMjJlh20 Plan your own story based on Little red Riding Hood. Change at least one character and the setting. Draw a story map for your new story. Add some interesting vocabulary to your story map and share your new story with someone at home.

Here are some ideas of what you could change;

Change the wolf to another mean character, perhaps another animal such as a snake.

Change the forest to another setting such as the beach, a city or one of the seven continents that children have learnt about in Geography. Try to link this to your character too.

Maths Y1:

Propeller maths board numbers:

Mild- 2 and 5

Spicy – 8 and 13

Hot – 9 and 15

Please complete these missing number sums in your exercise books. Remember to form your numbers in the correct direction.

Mild:                           Spicy:                             Hot:

3 + __ = 5                  9 + __ = 17                    12 + ___ = 22

4 + __ = 8                  10 + __ = 13                  10 + __ = 21

6 + __ = 11               3 + __ = 12                     9 + __ = 18

2 + ___ = 7                5 + __ = 16                    14 + __ = 23

7 + __ = 12                7 + __ = 14                    15 + __ = 30

If you have time you can play this game. http://www.ictgames.com/funkyMummy/index.html
