Thursday 2nd July

Good morning everyone, we hope you have a lovely day 😊

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on YouTube for children to watch at home from 9:30am and will be available for 24 hours.  All films will be in separate categories on the YouTube channel.

 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).

Note; Keep asking your child to tell you the set 2 and 3 sounds in their home learning packs so that you know which sounds to practise.

You can use this website to play some fun phonics games  https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/

English:

Today we are going to create some questions that we could ask the farmer for a newspaper report.

Think carefully about what kinds of questions you ask the farmer. Remember that your reader will want to know all about the Farmer, who helped him and how he managed to grow such an enormous turnip. Your reader is unlikely to want to know what the Farmer’s favourite colour is!

Try to think of some of the answers to your questions as you could use this in your newspaper report tomorrow.

Maths:

Continue to practise your 2, 3, 5 & 10 Times Tables. If you know you need to learn different times tables to enable you to fly from your country in the times tables trek, then I would continue practising those. Remember there are lots of games online you can use to help you. www.topmarks.com is great for this!

Warm up;

Today you will use your times-table knowledge to solve word problems.

Choose your level of challenge;

Mild

Spicy

Flaming Hot

In the top corner of your rapid recall whiteboard, you will have a space to write your number.

Year 1 (1-10) - Today's number is 7

Year 2 (20-50) - Today's number is 47

Topic: Science

Today you are going to find out lots of information about trees;  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I7u5FMQxHA

Then, watch this video to help us understand why trees are so important;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQTpt8x9VPU

Now you’ve learnt lots about trees and of their importance, do you think it is a good or bad idea to chop them down?

Write down 5 reasons that you are for or against deforestation. Here are some sentence stems to help you;

I think __________________ because__________________.

In my opinion_____________________________.

I agree/ disagree with _________________ because____________________.

Share your thoughts we somebody at home. Do they agree or disagree with your opinion?

Handwriting:

We would like you to practise your weekly spellings in our fancy handwriting style. Please have a look at the documents attached at the bottom to show you the joins.

Reading:

Login on to myON  https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html where you can read a variety of different books and most of them have a quiz to go with them. I can login and see how you are getting on, so I would love to see you reading different books and try and score 100% on your quizzes. If you have any problems accessing this, please email me on our class email and I will help you.

Spellings:

Please practise your spellings daily. You can practise the Year 1/2 spelling but move on to Year 3/4 spellings if you can already spell the Year 1/2 words well. Ask an adult to test you on a Friday.
