Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

From Monday 20th April, new films will be released at the times shown below from Monday to Friday. The new Speed Sounds lessons YouTube schedule is now available on their website

Each film is around ten to fifteen minutes long and will be available for 24 hours

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).   Then, watch the set 2 sound lessons at 10am and 10:15.

Note; If you ask your child to read the set 2 sounds in your home learning pack and they know the set 2 sounds really well, move onto watching set 3.

Ask your child to read the words below using Fred-talk before blending the words.

dirt

girl

twirl

third

bird

Now ask them to try spelling the words; Say the word slowly and allow them to decode the word independently to spell it. Keep a record of their score to share with us.

English:

Draw and label a picture of a new house for the animals.

Try to write some simple sentences. For example;

The fox lives in the ______.

The squirrel lives in the ______.

Maths:

Have a go at the PowerPoint below if you can access it.

Today, you are going to have a go at creating your own pattern. Remind the children that a pattern must repeat or must be the same in order to make it a pattern. How many different patterns can they spot around the house? Can you take some photos of them?

You can use objects around the house to make your pattern, you can draw your pattern, or you could even get creative and cut out different things, or paint different body parts to create your pattern.
