Tuesday 14th June

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on YouTube for children to watch at home from 9:30am and will be available for 24 hours.  All films will be in separate categories on the YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).

Note; Keep asking your child to tell you the set 2 and 3 sounds in their home learning packs so that you know which sounds to practise.

Red Words

Red words are the name we use for words the children cannot sound out as they do not follow the phonics language patterns. Their letters make uncommon sounds. The only way to learn these words is from memory, so they need lots of practise! Here are the next set of red words to learn for the next few weeks as there are fifteen;

Remember you can also play some fun games here; https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources

English:

Today we are going to look at how we should brush our teeth. Firstly, let’s look at a story about brushing your teeth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC4-hVKShtk

We are going to create some instructions on how to brush our teeth properly to help smaller children. Watch this clip that explains how to brush your teeth correctly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_mgHakWC1g

Now create your instructions, remembering to include a list of the things you will need and a labelled diagram. This template might help you to organise your instructions.

Topic:

Today we are going to learn about the importance of exercise.

Today we are going to think about how physical activity is important for our health.  Watch the clip below before you explore our questions; https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z274d2p

Ask your child the following questions;

  • What does ‘being active’ mean?
  • Have you been active today?
  • What activities do you usually do?
  • What activities are your favourite?
  • How do you feel when you are being active?
  • Do you feel out of breath, warmer/cooler, more/less tired and/or sweaty?
  • How do you feel after you have been active?
  • Why do you think you feel like this when you are active? (Your body is working harder and you are using energy.)

Create an activity clock pictured below. Can you invent break time games and activities that would count towards your 60 minutes a day?

We have attached an activity booklet if you would like to print it and encourage the family to get active.

We want you to practise your weekly spellings in our fancy handwriting style. Please have a look at the document attached at the bottom to show you the joins.
