Tuesday 14th June

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on YouTube for children to watch at home from 9:30am and will be available for 24 hours.  All films will be in separate categories on the YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).

Note; Keep asking your child to tell you the set 2 and 3 sounds in their home learning packs so that you know which sounds to practise.

Red Words

Red words are the name we use for words the children cannot sound out as they do not follow the phonics language patterns. Their letters make uncommon sounds. The only way to learn these words is from memory, so they need lots of practise! Here are the next set of red words to learn for the next few weeks as there are fifteen;

Storytelling:

Today you are going to describe the pirate below.

First, label the features of the pirate. Think about his looks and his personality. Then, use your word bank to write a descriptive sentence about the pirate like the ones below.

The pirate is ____________

The pirate has ____________  ________________

The pirate is ___________ and ______________.

The ____________pirate is ____________________

The ____________ pirate has _____________

Maths:

Draw these Ladybirds. To halve the number of spots. Share the spots equally as you draw them on each wing.

Then write the halve underneath.

Remember; To halve, you share the amount equally between two parts. You should always have the same amount in each part.

Topic:  Pick a challenge from the home learning grid.

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. New books can be accessed online through this link. You will need to register but it is completely free. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/.

Remember you can also access your myON account using your AR reading login; www.myon.co.uk

Talking Challenge;

Look at the pictures below and discuss;

How is the girl feeling? Explain how you know.

I think _______________________ because _____________________

In my opinion ____________________________

I noticed that _________________________ so ________________________

I agree/disagree with ________________________________ because _______________________________
