I hope you had a brilliant day yesterday learning all about different animals.

English:

 

Yesterday you did lots of research around an animal of your choice. Today you are going to use that research to plan out your non-chronological report.

You need to answer these questions:

  • What is the title of your report?
  • What are you going to include in your introductory paragraph?
  • How may different sections are you going to include?
  • What are the subheadings for each section?
  • What pictures/diagrams are you going to include?
  • What captions are you going to have for your pictures and diagrams?
  • What are you going to have in your conclusion paragraph?
  • What different vocabulary and interesting sentence starters are you going to include?
  •  

Produce a plan showing the answers to these questions. You could write down some key ideas as to what is going to be written in each section. I have attached pictures of what your plan could look like. These plans may not have everything you need so feel free to add your own parts to them.

Yesterday you had a lesson all about tenths and hundredths. Today you are going to follow a lesson about simplifying fractions using Bitesize again. Remember if you get stuck you can email us and we will do our best to help.

Topic:

 

Yesterday we learnt all about the Gentoo penguins and had a virtual visit to the London Sea Life Aquarium. Today we are going to think about Extinction.

This website mentioned the ‘ICUN Red List’. This documents all of the animals and where they are in terms of extinction. Have a look at the ICUN list below. Using the search bar look at different animals you are interested in to see where they are on the red list. What category do they fall into?

Your challenge is to imagine you have travelled back in time and encountered/met one of the eight extinct species you have learnt about. You are going to write a diary entry or a postcard home, describing the animal you have met. Try to include extra facts and information you have found through your own research of your chosen species. If you want to you can create a video to document your diary entry instead of writing it.

 

To finish off create a poster about the reasons your chosen species became extinct and what could have been done to save them.

 

Reading:

Please try to use Myon daily to keep up your reading and to continue to access different books rather than the two you took home with you which I imagine are finished by now.

 

PE:

Play some sport with your family. Go for a  walk and enjoy the sunshine. As it is wild week when you go for a walk have a look around you. What wildlife do you notice? Take pictures of the different insects, flowers or types of leaves you see. Can you name the wildlife you notice?
