Today we are going to look at another famous artist; an artist you may not have heard of, but we can almost guarantee that most of you will have seen examples of his work at some point. Take a look at the word document below to find out about the famous pop artist, Roy Lichtenstein.

Today we would like you to create an information leaflet about his life and works. The leaflet should be informative but not too complicated. Your target audience is children aged 7 – 11 and should give them an overview of why he is famous. We have added a word document below with some of his pictures taken from Google images. You may print these off and stick them onto your leaflet if you want (if you don’t have a printer then have a go at drawing some of the images yourself). You should create your leaflet in any format you wish, but it must contain a good range of key facts, a short biography of his life and it must reflect his work.

 

You have all the skills to do this well as it links quite closely to the work we did on Kandinsky, so heads down and get started… Have fun!

This week you are going to use formal written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including with real life contexts.

 

Today you are going to learn how the written methods for division can represent and solve a division calculation that has a remainder.

Topic:

 

For your topic task today, we would like to challenge you to create your own piece of pop art in the style of Roy Lichtenstein, focusing on portraiture. You may choose to do a self-portrait or a portrait of someone you live with – it’s up to you, but it must be drawn carefully, in a minimalistic style and must look like the person you are drawing!

This portrait has been sketched carefully using only basic lines and then has been outlined using a black marker pen. The different parts of the head were then coloured in using dots – you could do this in paint, coloured pencils or felt pens. If given the choice, we’d probably paint it using fingerprints!

The background was achieved by cutting out the head and sticking it onto a sheet of coloured paper but if you don’t have any then you could just colour it in with the resources you have.
