Tuesday 2nd June

Good morning everybody!

We hope you enjoyed starting to think about families yesterday. We are going to learn more today.

Remember when you have completed any of your work, please email it to us. Email it to your class teacher still. Here are our email addresses below:

Mr Bashford: woodpeckers@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

Mr Young: kingfishers@knowle-plymouth.co.uk

Enjoy!

From Mr Bashford and Mr Young 😊

English:

A letter to your friend/family.

Today we are going to be writing letters. There must be lots of friends and family who you haven’t been able to see for so long now, so why not write them a letter!

Pick someone that you would like to write to and hopefully you’ll even be able to send it to them too, so use your very best handwriting.

Things to remember:

  • Opening line: Dear…
  • Sign off – how will you end your letter?  (All my love from, yours sincerely, I hope to see you soon, Take Care, etc)
  • Ask them questions (What have you been up to? Have you seen any good films lately? What do you think about schools opening on the 1st June? Etc, etc.)
  • Tell them what you have been up to (any fun things you have made or games you have played, anything funny that has happened, any news you have to tell them, etc)
  • Give a balance of talking about a range of topics and asking them about their life too.
  • Make it interesting to read (don’t repeat – use a range of sentence starters, exciting language, etc)

Read this new article below for some inspiration!

Maths:

Today you will be practising more arithmetic questions. If you find any difficult have a look at the video clips at the bottom of the page to help you.

You may want to start with the mild challenge or if you are feeling confident go straight on to the arithmetic challenges.

Now use your arithmetic skills to try these mastery challenges:

In the top corner of your propeller board, you will have a space to write your number.

Range 10-20: 16

Range 30-60: 42

Range 350-450: 355

Range 30-99: 35

Remember to keep practising your times tables on TTRS.

Topic:

Have a look at this below. Toby has been writing letters to people from all around the world – how cool is this! Do you know a friend or family in another country? Why don’t you make contact with them? (With your parent/carers permission!)

Leading on from what we started to learn about children around the world yesterday. Have a look and see what else you can find out. Do you own research about lots of countries, or just pick one that you are really interested in and find out more about life there:

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record.  You can now also go on: https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html to do your online reading and quizzes too! We can see how many books you have read and how you are doing on your quizzes. So go on, let’s get reading!

On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
