Tuesday 7th July

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on YouTube for children to watch at home from 9:30am and will be available for 24 hours.  All films will be in separate categories on the YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).

Note; Keep asking your child to tell you the set 2 and 3 sounds in their home learning packs so that you know which sounds to practise.

Red Words

Red words are the name we use for words the children cannot sound out as they do not follow the phonics language patterns. Their letters make uncommon sounds. The only way to learn these words is from memory, so they need lots of practise! Here are the next set of red words to learn for the next few weeks as there are fifteen;

Storytelling:

Read the story or watch the story here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqdXBhyORug

Now ask your child the following questions about the story;

How many different fruits did Handa put is her basket? Can you name any?

Who was the fruit basket for?

Who took the soft yellow banana?

Where do you think the story it set?

Who took the orange?

What fruit would you take?

Why do you think the animals took the fruit?

How did the tangerines fall into the basket?

How did Hand feel when she saw the tangerines?

Try our challenge below;

Maths;

Draw these Ladybirds including the spots on one wing. To double the number of spots, draw the same amount of spots on the other wing. Then write the double underneath.

Remember; To double, you add the same number. Eg to find double 4 we say 4 + 4 =

Topic:  Pick a challenge from the home learning grid.

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. New books can be accessed online through this link. You will need to register but it is completely free. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/.

Remember you can also access your myON account using your AR reading login; www.myon.co.uk

Talking Challenge;

Look at the picture below and discuss; What is the same and what is different?

I think _______________________ because _____________________

In my opinion ____________________________

I noticed that _________________________ so ________________________

I agree/disagree with ________________________________ because _______________________________
