Wednesday 10th June

Good morning everybody!

We hope you enjoyed writing your Chinese New Year poems yesterday. Remember when you have completed any of your work, please email it to your class teacher. We would love to see the work you are doing!

Here are our email addresses below:

Have a good day!

From Miss Harcourt and Mrs Walters 😊

English:

Today we would like you to plan your own Chinese myth! Use the word file attached to help you innovate and change the myth you looked at yesterday. You can make subtle changes or big changes whilst maintaining a similar structure. You just need to ensure that your ideas are linked to what you have mentioned previously!

You might want to add extra details or change things such as characters, setting, task set by the Emperor, order of the animals and weather.

Don’t worry about printing the word file. You can write your innovated ideas down in your book using the same structure!

Maths:

Firstly today complete an arithmetic warm up:

Today we are going to finish our work on place value and see how confident you now feel.

Complete the main task below:

Now complete the reflection task:
Finally have a go at the power puzzle:

How confident are you with place value?

If you think you need more practise try the strengthening activity below.

If you found it easy today then have a go at the deepening task.

Now complete your propeller board using the numbers Side A 30-90 : 34

                                                                                            Side B 10-90 : 14

Also remember to keep practising your times tables on TTRS.

Topic:

Today you will be finding out about the Shang Dynasty. Watch the two videos below as an introduction.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3jXyXhIR9s&feature=emb_logo

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z39j2hv/articles/z2ckrwx

There is also a word document below where you can find out more facts!

Once you have done this, split your page in half with the two headings ‘Kings’ and ‘Peasants’. In each column, write down what you think life was like for these two groups of people during the Shang Dynasty. It would definitely be very different!

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record.  You can now also go on: https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html to do your online reading and quizzes too! We can see how many books you have read and how you are doing on your quizzes. So go on, let’s get reading!

Spellings:

Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. You will need to see which ones you want to work on. If you can spell all of the Year 3/4, then do the Year 5/6. We will be focusing on 10 spellings every week. On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
