Wednesday 15th April

Wednesday 15th April

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday! We continue our pirate theme today! ‘Ere be yer daily learnin’ me shipmates. Be sure to send yer pictures to Cap’n Edwards or you’ll be walking the plank and plunging to Davy Jones’ Locker before you can say ‘Abandon Ship’!

English:

Yesterday, you created a word bank for the picture that I gave you. The picture is attached to the bottom of here once again. Today, you must write a description of the scene. Use the word bank to write a good descriptive piece.

Your writing should include:

  • Strong adjectives to describe the scene.
  • Full sentences including full stops and capital letters.
  • Adverbs to help you describe the things in the picture.
  • Fronted adverbials that tell us how, when or where something is happening.
  •

Example: Just above the waves, the old, creaky ship bobbed calmly.

Maths:

Continuing our co-ordinates work from yesterday.

In your blue book, draw yourself a treasure map. You need to draw an x axis and a y axis. If you have forgotten what they are, go back to this link to remind yourself.

This might also be useful:

Place numbers on the lines. Draw an island onto your map and place your treasure onto the island in different locations.

Write detailed instructions for your shipmates:

If ye dig at 5,3,

Treasure there will be.

Topic:

Follow this link and have a go at drawing your very own pirate ship.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yG1DMsQK74M

Once you have drawn it, you can try and put your own personal touches to it, or maybe draw a completely different ship!

I have added to the bottom of this page some information about the different roles and jobs on a pirate ship.

Read through the roles carefully. If you need help reading, get an adult to help you. Think about:

-What job you would most like to have on a pirate ship.

-What job you think you would be good at and why.

-What job you think you would be bad at and why.

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record.

Don’t forget to take part in your Joe Wicks lesson at 9am!
