Wednesday 15th June

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on YouTube for children to watch at home from 9:30am and will be available for 24 hours.  All films will be in separate categories on the YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).

Note; Keep asking your child to tell you the set 2 and 3 sounds in their home learning packs so that you know which sounds to practise.

Red Words

Red words are the name we use for words the children cannot sound out as they do not follow the phonics language patterns. Their letters make uncommon sounds. The only way to learn these words is from memory, so they need lots of practise! Here are the next set of red words to learn for the next few weeks as there are fifteen;

Storytelling:

Watch the story - On a Pirate Ship;   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNbWrIex9Jw

Now that you know all about pirate ships, can you draw and label this picture? There is a word bank below to help you.

We have attached the activity as a PDF if you wish to print it.

Maths:

The pirates have a challenge for you. They are trying to share the treasure they have found. They want to share it equally so that each pirate has half of the treasure.

You might like to use coins at home or perhaps you could use pasta pieces and pretend that you have treasure.

Can you put half the coins into the treasure chests? How many coins does each pirate have?

We have attached the activity as a PDF if you wish to print it.

Topic:  Pick a challenge from the home learning grid.

Reading: Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. New books can be accessed online through this link. You will need to register but it is completely free. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/.

Remember you can also access your myON account using your AR reading login; www.myon.co.uk

Talking Challenge;

How is this person feeling? Explain how you know.
