Wednesday 1st July

Phonics:

Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons are on YouTube for children to watch at home from 9:30am and will be available for 24 hours.  All films will be in separate categories on the YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ

I would suggest that you follow this link to review set 1 sound as your child will know these really well now; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds (turn off the sound so your child can say what they see).

Note; Keep asking your child to tell you the set 2 and 3 sounds in their home learning packs so that you know which sounds to practise.

Red Words

Red words are the name we use for words the children cannot sound out as they do not follow the phonics language patterns. Their letters make uncommon sounds. The only way to learn these words is from memory, so they need lots of practise! Here are red words to learn this week;

You can use this website to play some fun phonics games  https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/

English:

Today we are going to write some instructions on how to grow an enormous turnip. Remember that when we write an instruction text, we need to include a list of equipment, a labelled diagram and use imperative verbs (bossy verbs) for each instruction.

You might like to use bullet points or numbers to help order your instructions. Below is a proforma to help you if you wish.

Here is a reminder of bossy verbs and a template below;

Maths:

Identify and name these coins and notes;

Today we will continue to make amounts. We will focus on notes; £5, £10 and £20.  Use your addition skills and counting in 5s and 10s will be helpful too.

Choose from a challenge below;

In the top corner of your rapid recall whiteboard, you will have a space to write your number.

Topic: Science

Today we are going to research common garden plants.

If you are able to go outside, we would like you to create your own garden including lots of the different flowers that you find and label them when you find out their names.  If you can't go outside, research common garden plants online and draw an imaginary garden.

Handwriting:

We want you to practise your weekly spellings in our fancy handwriting style. Please have a look at the document attached at the bottom to show you the joins.

Reading:  Log in to your myON account here;  https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html

 You can choose from a variety of texts and most will have a quiz to go with them. We can log in and see how you are getting on so I would love to see your quiz scores, 100% of course.

Spellings:

Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
