Today you are going to plan your story - as a story map or a comic strip. Remember you can make as many changes as you like. You can even have a happy ending for your ‘giant’ and a sad ending for ‘Jack’. It’s all up to you.
Here is a reminder of the story stages, to help you plan:
Maths:
In maths this week, you will be consolidating your understanding of the number operations, using mental arithmetic and written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You will need to know when to use mental arithmetic and when to use a written method.

Topic:
This afternoon you are going to learn about germination. Look at this amazing time lapse clip showing a seed germinating and growing into a plant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w77zPAtVTuI
Imagine you are a seed, slowly germinating, pushing your root down into the earth and sending a shoot up to the light. Write an acrostic poem, vividly describing the journey of the germinating seed.
GERMINATION or GERMINATING
Here are some words to help start each line:
Germinating, gradually, growing, gently, easily, every, effortlessly, earth, roots, rising, reaching, moving, my, in, inching, I, next, now, nearly, a, almost, above, and, the, tall, tiny, thin, on...
Try to use technical vocabulary too: roots, stem, stalk, soil, earth, seed…
Reading:
Please do your daily reading and record it in your reading record. Continue using myON to do your online reading and quizzes at: https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html. We can see how many books you have read and how you are doing on your quizzes. So, go on, let’s get reading!
Spellings:
Please practise your spellings daily. This week’s spellings are below. You will need to see which ones you want to work on. If you can spell the Year 2 spellings, then do the Year 3/4. We will be focusing on 10 spellings every week. On Friday, get someone at home to do your spelling test with you!
